Ingredients
- Korean rice cakes (tteok) – 떡
- Fish cakes – 어묵
- Boiled eggs – 삶은 달걀
- Green onion – 대파
- Garlic – 마늘
- Gochujang (Korean red chili paste) – 고추장
- Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) – 고춧가루
- Soy sauce – 간장
- Sugar – 설탕
- Sesame oil – 참기름
- Water or anchovy broth – 물 또는 멸치육수
- Sesame seeds – 깨
Steps
- Soak rice cakes in warm water if they are hard.
- In a pan, combine water or broth, gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, and garlic. Stir until sauce is well mixed.
- Bring to a boil, then add rice cakes and fish cakes. Cook until rice cakes become soft and chewy.
- Add boiled eggs and green onion, simmer briefly.
- Finish with sesame oil and sprinkle sesame seeds before serving.
Tips
For extra spicy flavor, add more gochugaru or a little fresh chili.
For a sweeter taste, increase sugar or add corn syrup.
